This is the best book on Running I've read. Period.
Some background on me - I hated runnning about 4 years ago! I got into it when a bunch of colleagues at work were signing up for a MS Walk/ Run 10K and huffed and puffed my way through it. Since then I've come a long way - running 4 Half marathons in the last year and shaving off minutes on every one of them.
With that background, it is easy to see that I wasn't necessarily looking for motivation to run, but, I got more than a fair share of that, from reading this book. More importantly I was very impressed by how the author presents references to less known people that have helped push running beyond what we thought was humanly possible. Most people with a slight interest in running have heard about Dean Karnazes and the Pam Reed, but, McDougall goes way beyond them to bring to focus several other ultra marathoners who haven't necessarily received the same kind of public attention (like 7 time Badwater winner Scott Jurek).
What also impressed me was the detailed research into the "Persistence Hunting" theory. I wasn't familiar with this at all and I am now very eager to read more about it.
Overall a great read for experienced runners and a must read for those that look at running as a "necessary evil" to stay in shape (and should rather treat is a natural extension of who they are as a race!)... my 2 cents!Get more detail about Born to Run.
