Hitchens' treatise on religion discloses the truly wretched mindset that religion requires, and the book explores the terribly tragic and horribly grotesque practices of modern religion. I was atheist before I read it, and even I will never look at religion the same way again. Given what happened to Rushdie (who is a friend of Hitchens) and Islamist success in bullying Comedy Central into silence JUST THIS WEEK, this book is desperately needed . . . and Hitchens is definitely courageous.
